Greece has also faced intense heat, prompting many Athenians to seek refuge at beaches. The heatwave is expected to intensify until Friday, with inland temperatures reaching 40-41°C, before gradually subsiding by the weekend. Portugal and Spain are also preparing for extreme temperatures, with Portugal issuing warnings of up to 44°C in some regions.
