Google Expands AI Mode to India in Search Labs

Google has announced the international expansion of its AI Mode feature, now available in Search Labs for users in India.

This marks the first growth of AI Mode outside of the United States, following its initial launch in the US earlier this year. Users in India can now access AI Mode in English by signing up through Search Labs. Google emphasizes that this phase is an experimental rollout aimed at gathering user feedback to refine the feature further.

The company highlighted that AI Overviews, a related AI-driven feature used by over 1.5 billion users monthly, has already contributed to a significant increase in query engagement, especially in key markets like the US and India.

The expansion indicates Google's plans to roll out AI capabilities more broadly across different regions and languages, with additional features to be introduced over time.

Currently, the AI Mode is available only to signed-in users and not in incognito mode, and it is still a Labs feature, so data may not yet be reflected in Search Console.
