Norwegian Crown Princess's Son Faces Rape and Sexual Assault Charges

Oslo police announced charges against Marius Borg Høiby, the 28-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, on multiple counts including rape, sexual assault, and bodily harm. The investigation, which involved numerous alleged victims, has been ongoing since 2024, during which Høiby was repeatedly detained. Police reports indicate that evidence includes text messages, witness testimonies, and search warrants.
Høiby cooperated with authorities but maintains his innocence, with his defense asserting that he does not acknowledge wrongdoing in most cases. The royal palace stated that the case is proceeding through the legal system without further comment.
Høiby, who previously lived with the royal family, now resides separately near their estate. He has acknowledged past issues with substance abuse, and is currently presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case has sparked significant media attention in Norway, where the Royals remain popular.
